Maria Alexis Rodrigo
I am a wife, mother of 3 children (1 toddler, 1 grade schooler and 1 high schooler), and editorial consultant. That is just a fancy way of saying that I am a freelance writer, editor and proofreader.
Until early this year, I was a working Mom, working full-time in the communication section of UNICEF Philippines. Working 14 years in UNICEF taught me the craft of writing press releases, op eds, and letters to the editor so that they are published prominently. I also learned how to produce advocacy pieces that convince poilcy makers and decision makers to support our cause. We had a lot of donors from all over the globe, so I also mastered writing funding/grant proposals, fund-raising appeals, and donor reports.
In 2005 to 2007, I wrote a monthly advice column in Good Housekeeping Philippines about work-life balance.
I am also a certified childbirth educator. I am crazy about babies and passionate about breastfeeding. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to sleeping through the night again.
I left my job to move to Canada and decided not to seek office employment. So now I'm learning to be a stay at home Mom and trying to get some work done at home, too.
I must love to write because I now maintain 3 blogs:
About transitioning from working Mom to stay at home Mom
About advocating for breastfeeding
